GCSE Drama:
THE COURSE
You will have the opportunity to:
• develop inter-personal and group working skills
• learn new drama forms and acting skills
• create your own plays and performances for a variety of audiences
• take part in practical workshops and theatre visits both in and out of school
• explore the social, cultural and historical content of plays.

Component 1
40% of the overall GCSE Devising - Using a stimulus in groups, students will create their own play 20-25 minutes long using a combination of acting styles and performance techniques. Students complete a 1500-2000 word Portfolio mapping their devising process and evaluating the work that they have created. Completed in Year 10. |
Component 2
20% of the overall GCSE A Performance from a play text - Students will perform in 2 key extracts from the play which they have studied.This is completed in front of a visiting examiner and will take place in Year 11. |
Component 3
40% of the overall GCSE Theatre Makers in Practice - a 1 hour 30 minutes written exam. Section A will focus on a play text which they have studied across the 2 years and Section B will be a Theatre Review based on a production seen in Year 11. This will be completed at the end of the course. |
