You will have the opportunity to:

Component 1: Performance and Choreography
Performance 30% (40 marks) Task A: Students perform a short taught solo of 1.5 minutes. They are marked on technique and performance skills. Task B: Students perform in a duet or trio of between 3.5 and 5 minutes. They will have choreographed this work with their teacher and external professionals. They are marked on technique, dynamics and expressive performance skills. Choreography 30% (40 marks) Students respond to set external stimuli by creating an original choreography. They may make a solo or a group piece with up to five dancers, however the work must be all their own and not a collaborative effort. The work will be between 2 and 3.5 minutes and students must select their own accompaniment. Component 2: Dance appreciation Written Paper – 1.5 hour 40% Short, medium and long questions based on eight professional works that have been selected by the exam board and studied over the course. Students will show their understating of choreographic processes, performing skills, styles, stimulus, structures, intention and settings of the dance works. |
